Terror... In the flesh.

Cabin Fever (Roth, 2002) is my #11 pick for best horror movie.  Even if you don't like scary or gory movies, you'll want to see this one.  It stars Rider Strong (aka Sean from Boy Meets World)!  Who doesn't totally miss Sean Hunter?  So aside from the all-star cast, the film has a great plot focussing on five college graduates who rent a cabin in the woods - the perfect setting for any horror flick.  While enjoying their little getaway, they begin to fall victim to a flesh-eating virus.

I think this movie has a lot more to offer than you might expect.  "On the surface, Cabin Fever might seem like just another ripoff of the Michigan-made cult class The Evil Dead," writes critic John Monaghan of the Detroit Free Press, "but it has a style and sense of humor entirely its own."  Plenty of suspense and gore, Roth definitely proved himself with this movie.  If you are familiar with the horror genre, you will notice and appreciate the nods to the masters like Wes Craven and George Romero.  This is a well-written, clever, and bloody film that is every bit as infectious and gross as the virus it depicts.

Oh, and just a little word of advice - don't mess with Dennis and his pancakes.

  1. Although I'm not a huge horror movie fan, the trailer to "Cabin Fever" is intriguing. By the way, anyone who dares to mess with somebody's pancakes is begging for trouble.

  2. Don't like horror movies?!! But they are so fun. But yeah, CABIN FEVER is intriguing... it's a bit bloody but it's a good one fore sure. Haha yeah... I agree with you about the pancakes. I guess if we'd had been in the movie we would have known better.

  3. I remember Ryder Strong from Boy Meets World and wondered what he'd been up to, but, like Malcolm, I'm not a big horror fan these days. I used to be but after Alien (where I darn near had heart failure every five minutes) I kind of went sour on things that scare the be-jeezus out of me, lol. Maybe it's just old age. . .

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my New Pop Art Divas series of paintings! I'm actually sketching a few more today while I goof off from my graphics work and take a "me" moment.
