almost New Moon time!!!

With the holiday season fast approaching, looks like there are some great new movies to be seen.  Here are just some of the movies opening this month.

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire (Daniels, 2009) – In Harlem, an overweight, illiterate teen, pregnant with her second child, is invited to enroll in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction.

A Christmas Carol (Zemeckis, 2009) – An animated retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.

The Boat that Rocked, US title: Pirate Radio (Curtis, 2009) – A period comedy about an illegal radio station in the North Sea in the 1960s.

The Box (Kelly, 2009) – A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who open it and become instantly wealthy.  Little do they realize that opening the box also kills someone they do not know… 

The Men Who Stare at Goats (Heslov, 2009) – A reporter in Iraq might just have the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady, a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.

2012 (Emmerich, 2009) – An epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

Up in the Air (Reitman, 2009) – Ryan Bingham is a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and just after he's met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

The Messenger (Moverman, 2009) – An American soldier struggles with an ethical dilemma when he becomes involved with a widow of a fallen officer.

The Blind Side (Hancock, 2009) – A poor, oversized, under-educated teenager is recruited by a major college football program where he is groomed into an athletically and academically successful NFL prospect. 

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Weitz, 2009) – This is the highly anticipated second installment of the Twilight series.  After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family.  However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella's blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks for Bella and Edward's sake.  Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black.  Danger in different forms awaits…

Me and Orson Welles (Linklater, 2009) – A teenager is cast in the Mercury Theatre production of Julius Ceasar, directed by a young Orson Welles in 1937.

Nine (Marshall, 2009) – Famous film director Guido Contini struggles to find harmony in his professional and personal lives, as he engages in dramatic relationships with his wife, his mistress, his muse, his agent, and his mother.

The Princess and The Frog (Clements and Musker, 2009) – A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans' French Quarter during the Jazz Age.

The Road (Hillcoat, 2009) - A post-apocalyptic tale of a man and his son trying to survive by any means possible, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy.

Brooklyn’s Finest (Fuqua, 2009) – Three unconnected Brooklyn cops wind up at the same deadly location after enduring vastly different career paths.
